AN INDIE GAME STUDIO WITH AFRICAN ROOTS.

Old roots.
New play.

We’re bringing African play and stories to the screen. AfroGames is an independent studio creating small digital games—from favorites like Whot and Ludo to new adventures inspired by African folklore.

Good things are in the making.
Our first games are coming soon.
A playful game-night collection: a colorful Ludo board, Whot cards, wooden pawns, dice, and a seed-filled mancala board.a little piece of home.
COME ON IN. EVERYONE’S INVITED.

01 / WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

Remember the feeling?
We’re bringing it back.

Our vision starts with the games that bring people together, then grows into original worlds shaped by African stories. Familiar rules. Fresh experiences. Plenty of room for one more round.

Whot, a classic.

CARDS · QUICK WITS · BIG REACTIONS

A fast-paced card game of matching shapes and numbers. Our take aims to keep the familiar tension of one last card, with a fresh digital personality.

A roll. A rivalry.

BOARD GAMES · OLD FRIENDS · NEW GRUDGES

A race around the board, powered by luck, timing, and friendly rivalry. We want to carry the energy of a shared Ludo table into the digital experience.

Stories with a next move.

FOLKLORE · LITTLE WORLDS · BIG WONDER

Original adventures inspired by African folklore: memorable characters, playful puzzles, and story choices that give you a reason to see what happens next.

THE THREAD THAT CONNECTS THEM

Easy to pick up. Worth coming back to. Each game will have its own personality, with thoughtful rules, a strong sense of place, and room for a little friendly competition or discovery.

These are early concepts, not released games. Our first title, platforms, and launch date are still to be announced.

02 / THE STUDIO & THE WHY

Before there
were screens,
there was us.

A board on the veranda.
Cards on the kitchen table.
A story that made everyone lean in.

Our mission is to turn the richness of African play and storytelling into digital games people can enjoy, share, and return to. We want the details that feel like home—the humor, the rivalries, the characters—to be part of the experience.

That means reimagining games loved in African households and creating new ones inspired by distinct storytelling traditions. Each culture and story deserves its own context, voice, and care.

An independent studio.
A growing collection of African-inspired games.

01

For the home crowd.

Players across Africa who want familiar games and cultural details in the digital worlds they spend time in.

02

For home, far away.

The diaspora, reconnecting with the games and stories they carry—and sharing them with friends.

03

For the curious.

Anyone who loves a good game. You won’t need to know the rules or the stories before you arrive.

03 / SMALL STUDIO. LONG GAME.

One good game.
Then the next.

We’re building a studio one considered game at a time. The aim is a collection with lasting character: familiar favorites to return to, and original adventures that give you somewhere new to go.

THE PATH WE’RE TAKING

  1. Find the fun in the familiar.

Start with a focused concept, drawing on favorites like Whot and Ludo. Work out what makes the experience feel right: the rules, the pace, and the moments people want to share.

  2. Make it. Play it. Make it better.

Build small prototypes, learn from playtesting, and refine the details before release. The first goal is a game people enjoy enough to ask for another round.

  3. Let the world grow.

Over time, expand into more games and original folklore-inspired adventures. Keep each project focused, while giving different stories and traditions space to be themselves.

IDEAS FOR FUTURE PLAY

A new way
into the story.

EXPLORING POSSIBILITIES

What if a character had an answer to your question? Or a story took a different turn because of your choice? We’re exploring small touches that make an adventure feel more personal.

Meet a character.

Conversations that respond to what you say, and story choices that let you follow your curiosity through an original world.

Find your next move.

A helpful nudge when you’re stuck, or a clear explanation when you’re learning. Enough support to keep the fun moving.

Still on the drawing board. We’re exploring AI-assisted interactions as part of this direction. Each idea will need careful writing, cultural research, and playtesting before it becomes part of a released game.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

Before we play.

Can I play the games yet?

Not just yet. AfroGames is at the beginning of its journey, and our first games are still ahead of us. Join the circle and we’ll share launch news when there’s something ready to play.

What kinds of games are you making?

Our direction is small indie games rooted in African cultures: fresh takes on familiar favorites like Whot and Ludo, alongside original adventures inspired by African folklore. The ideas on this page are a glimpse of that direction, not a fixed release schedule.

Do I need to know these games already?

Everyone is invited. Whether you grew up playing Whot or you’re meeting it for the first time, we want our games to be easy to pick up and rewarding to come back to.

Where will I be able to play?

We’re still working out the best home for each game. Platforms, release dates, and pricing will be announced as the games take shape. The launch list is the best place to hear first.
